It has six wings to look more like a biblical seraphim while mixing in dragonair elements. It looks fine, but could be better by making a sleaker slimmer build on the body and adding in some blue elements. the design is fine, the execution of the design is where the new mega falls short

game freak has stated that because of fakemons. They try to make sure it doesn't look like any of them which has hurt the design process. One reason why aren't getting new eevees and mega flygon got scraped

It just makes more sense on its head if the wings are feather like, the back are more bat/dragon like. It fits its evo line much better. GameFreak tries to prioritize the lore aspect of it more into its designs.

yeah the problem is because so many artists have put those same wings on the back It's going to look very close to at least 5 fan designs and the pokemon company always wants to make sure the designs are distinct and not resemble fan art so because of these fan arts we didnt get this

The problem with it besides the proportions of both wings is it feels like an in-between of dragonair and dragonite like this is what you would see if your dragonair was evolving into a dragonite and it doesn't feel like a competed design

I think I heard gamefreak don't want to pay ppl for they designs ..alot of fan art will have them go the other route ..soo I feel fan art need to stop for they cn cook or they need to start paying these ppl for a cooler designs fs

Too many fans designed a dragonite like that, gamefreak straight out said if their pokemon are similar to fanarts they scrap it completely from fear of plagiarism

As someone who has always hated Dragonite, this mega design has me in love. First time I’ve ever considered the Pokémon cute. But then again I have several personal characters with head wings so I’m biased. But to me it’s a great design. Don’t care what others say.

Wings on the back is borning tho. The head makes it look more whimsical and magical. Dragonites charm comes from not being a stereotypical dragon with his derpy chubby look.
