One time I had stepped away to the kitchen for a moment after audit to start preheating the oven for breakfast, I was gone for a minute max (though it was probably less than that) and I had set the sign and a bell out if anybody did come to the desk in the interim. I came back out (again less than a minute later) with a lady yelling “Hello is anyone there?” Multiple times. While IN THE BACK OFFICE AREA. She then yelled at me (as I escorted her back to the lobby) complaining that I wasn’t where I needed to be, continuing to go on and on about it for another ten minutes. All she had come for was a toothbrush… 🤦🏼♀️

I can see the guests position SLIGHTLY here. If I was shattered and I wanted to get back to bed I might like lean over/round the corner of the desk to try to find a pen and paper then come straight back to the lobby. So I don’t have to stand there waiting. But i certainly wouldn’t behave like this

OH I HATE THIS!! My property has an open desk concept so people walk in and out all the time and i have to always tell them to not step behind the desk. Or they walk behind the bar cause one side is open. Just cause you CAN walk in doesn't mean you're ALLOWED to walk in🙄

I have a regular who knocks on the door really loudly whenever we aren't upfront when he "so desperately" needs us. 💀 We'll be in the back for a single minute and he acts like we've been gone for an hour.

The amount of people that is inpatient at a hotel is nuts🤦 & it's not just the desk area I've had to stop people from following behind me in other employees only areas also 👀

I have a bell on my counter for people to use, but apparently, bells are “rude”. Much more appropriate into the kitchen and scare the snot out of me while I’m washing dishes😩

I’ve had families of patients and patients themselves think they can come in the nurse station and just chill at a private computer or to get someone’s attention. Like no, it’s called a secure area for a reason

I'm never just at the front desk. I have so many duties around the hotel at night. there's a phone for them to pick up and call me but they always "miss it" somehow.

never EVER go into the workspace of the main circuitry. it will disrupt everything. Imagine if a customer came into the kitchen while me and the other chefs were cooking because he thought the food wouldn't take that long. we would yell and cuss at him to get out like no tomorrow

our front desk and behind the bar are connected and once at like 2am i had a group of people at the lobby (bar was closed, nobody but me from the staff was there) and one guy asked for ice so i went and got him some from behind the bar. i had a call from a guest and had to step out for a minute and when i got back the lid for the ice cube machine was open when i remember closing it after giving the guy his ice. i am 100% sure one of them snuck in and took some ice instead of waiting for me to return.
