@nataliamasterman: Countries I would love to visit, but I’m intimidated for whatever reason… I would LOVE to be convinced to prioritize visiting all these places! I will 100% visit all of them one day, but I do have some concerns/hesitations so please share your experiences! #solotravel #travelbucketlist #travelfears #intimidatingtravel #whereiwpuldtravel #shoulditravelhere
The Sydney to Melbourne flight is 90 min…but I agree Oz needs a proper long trip to really explore. Even if you’re just visiting the East coast !

Maybe it’s because I’m from Texas but Melbourne to Sydney is only an hour 1/2 flight! But if you want to go to Perth… that’s a different story lol

I’ve been to around a dozen countries including Colombia and Myanmar. India was terrifying as a solo white woman. I left psychologically unwell. I felt like i was in a video game of hazards.

Girl as an American who used to live in China, you MUST go! Yes, there’s some prep involved, but download a few apps and mentally prepare for not having quite the same access as usual and GO! I miss it sooo much!

I went to São Paulo and Rio this past June and I felt so safe! Never felt like I was going to get robbed or anything even at Pedra do Sal. Everyone is so nice too

I’ve been to Brazil, China, India, South Africa, Australia, and Patagonia. They are all most definitely worthwhile to do when you’re ready, but I gotta say South Africa was something special— it blew my socks off. It’s absolutely gorgeous there and there’s just this energy about Cape Town that’s unlike anywhere else. My recommendation to you would be to do South Africa first of this list. You definitely have to be aware of your surroundings. I have friends that had some safety issues while they were there, but it’s not as badly unsafe as the internet makes it seem to be honest. Definitely still have your wits about you and be really aware, but don’t be intimidated that you don’t go. & I probably have recent see bias about Patagonia since I was only there a few months ago, but it is breathtakingly gorgeous! definitely make a trip there and spend time going to multiple cities in the region. There’s lots of cute towns to stop in! I was specifically in Bariloche which was absolutely beautiful definitely recommend! & China and India are definitely worthwhile but they need very thorough planning!! Such crazy cool experiences, but don’t rush into planning it—take your time planning the right trip! There is so much to do in those countries & they can be frankly overwhelming while you’re there so if you don’t do the proper planning beforehand, you might not have as good of a time as you could have had so, take your time with those trips! & when you go to Brazil definitely spend some time going to Iguazu falls!! I loved it there. It’s one of the (if not the) prettiest landscapes I’ve seen in my life. I need to go back and go to Rio when the time is right. & as far as Australia goes it’s definitely cool but it’s less uniquely different from the rest of these places you have listed. I loved my time there specifically going to the great barrier reef and Sydney & you are right you need several weeks there. It’s a huge country. but Australia gets really hyped up on the Internet and it’s definitely cool but I’d argue a lot of the other places you have on this list are cooler. I still recommend going here but after some of these others wish list countries!

As an American living here, do Australia! The flight from Melbourne to Sydney is not long but also if you want to drive around there’s so many beautiful scenic routes. I’ve only done the east coast so far but it is so worth coming here

Rio is AMAZING! Just follow the safety warnings. Don’t go to the beaches after dark lol. We had no issues there though!

I’ve been to India, Brazil, China and Patagonia. Patagonia and China are both amazing! China is the size of a continent, so you will want a 10 year visa to be able to go back lol

Visit Florianópolis in Brazil first, very safe, beautiful beaches. Manali, Shimla, Srinagar all gorgeous and more relaxed towns/cities in India. I did Galapagos not on a cruise and it was great, def recommend. For Patagonia, the Argentine side is really easy to just go and stay at a hotel or hostel and do day hikes from Chalten. Perito Moreno glacier is a must

Galapagos are I think overrated, South Africa is very beautiful but stick to Cape Town dont go to joeburg it’s really dangerous, Namibia is where I did my first roadtrip in Africa and it’s amazing and very safe, Patagonia is very vast but insanely beautiful, and India has so much to see but it’s exhausting to travel around I prefer other less crowded places in Asia more like Central Asia

Going to India with a tour group was amazing and safe and I made life long friendships! It was very helpful going with local guides who handled all the intimidating aspects of it

Have you been to Hong Kong? A wonderful first step before China. Much easier to get in to....get around...such an amazing city. Or I planned a 48hr layover in Shanghai bc no visa is required for a layover. That was really fun too!
