Prosperity Gospel + Christian Nationalism are the twin terrible theologies in white churches. One echoes the other. Trump’s wealth seen as a blessing from God and America seen as a Christian nation - terrible echo chamber 😪

Matthew 19:24 "It is easier for a csmel to go through the eye of s needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. The second greatest commandment is "to love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-40. Their beliefs are not jiving.

Didn’t grow up in that kind of white church, but always wondered about the contortions people who adhere to prosperity beliefs have to go through to feel good about themselves deep down. I think many have regrets when facing the end of their lives.

All of us have a militant buried inside us. The more they tell us to “obey” without question. The more we will question and stand back. Because Jesus ain’t the person maga worships and or follows…

@GENNKOFFEE: Black Churches never had the opportunity to preach anything else BUT the liberation/benevolence Gospel of the slave/broken/downtrodden. We cannot be disconnected from the communities we are in because we ARE the communities. White churches, even with allllll their missions work overseas, is only to make themselves feel good. Not about other-centric, nor community — ONLY commerce, because that’s the gospel & language they embrace. I’ve been staff in both & this is the foundation of their religion

I’m not a believer anymore but I do believe in humanity. Whether through Jesus, Buddha or Hinduism, all teach about humanity and not to judge.

One thing that ive seen my area the last 10 yrs is that every time a yt pastor starts preaching about compassion gets immediately fired.

like I will never forget going to my yt roommates church with him during BLMm protests with trevonn martin and the pastor made his whole sermon about how we were making an "idol" out of social justice, walked out right then and there and we never went to that church again
