Fridge Alert may be something ya might want to research into. Like someone told you too you can put a plug in clock on your fridge and you will be able to tell if the clock is flashing when you arrive the next morning

Add a thermometer that connects to the inside of the refrigerator and it's magnetic on the outside and you can always see the temperature. It also has an alarm that goes off if the power goes out.

Freeze a small cup of water once frozen put a quarter on top. If you ever come in. And the quarter has sunk then the fridge/freezer turned off long enough for ice to melt. We do this at our camper

There are wifi thermometers for refrigerators or freezers. You connect to your phone and set an alarm for temperature settings. Check Amazon.

I got a thermostat that records the last 24 hours and I leave it in the fridge so I know if the temps dropped. It’s been unplugged or power out.

I think the smart plug only works if the connection is connected to some data. See if you can connect it to the schools WiFi then that can workout.

How do you know your smart plug will not stop working at some point? And most schools have a generator system.
