Philae Temple in Egypt , located in Aswan, Egypt, was originally built on Philae Island in the Nile River south of Aswan. It is dedicated to the goddess of love Isis and famous for its stone carvings and mythological stories on stone wall reliefs. At the end of the 19th century, after the construction of the old Aswan Dam to store water, the original site of Philae Temple was partially submerged. In the evenings, a sound-and-light show brings ancient myths to life through lights and narration. In 1979, Philae Temple was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the “Nubian Monuments” along with Abu Simbel and other sites.
