I believe she was drunk, tired & in her feelings about the way her family was treating her after coming out. 1998 was a different time…being gay/lesbian was very taboo. They feel extremely guilty about the way handled the situation.

I worked security on cruise ships, I also have a degree in criminology. I agree with your take on it. I also thing Netflix purposely didnt cover the investigation onboard the ship because it would have pointed more to the fact she went overboard.

I think she was not feeling good like her brother said she said. The table was near the edge. She did not want to walk past her parents bed to throw up so she stood on the table to barf and fell over.

She came out as bi, not gay, and they loved her still and continued to pay her way and support her choices at school, and brought her on a cruise to celebrate life. They also gave her a wide berth to go have fun on the boat and party with young people and smoke on their deck. She was hanging with a guy the whole night, and walked off with him, she was not upset guys were checking her out or her parents were laughing about it and even leveraging it to get more attention and faster service from the waiters. This family was solid.

My theory: father saw her sleeping on balcony around 5:30am then soon after she’s gone. I think she woke up, entered room with no shoes to use toilet, after all the drinking, left balcony door open and left sweatshirt inside went back outside to have a smoke didn’t see her cigarettes or maybe lighter cause wind blew them off edge. She looked over edge to find or retrieve them maybe used table to step up and fell. She cried out, waking dad. She’s Gone!

Exactly. It’s so sad either way, but her friends even said she was heavy drinking to cope with her sexuality and her parents disdain. She had 7 drinks. People want life to be a movie but it’s not

Not to mention, emotions can start to run especially high when you’re sharing a tiny room with your family and are stuck with them 24/7. She was an adult that had just graduated college. She went from having a real taste of freedom and having her own life & space right back into being a gay kid in a deeply unaccepting family. That can cause anyone to snap, esp after a night of drinking.
