Echoes from Asyut: The Funerary Collection of Mesehti Step into the afterlife world of Mesehti, a provincial governor of the Middle Kingdom. He was among the earliest non-royals to have his coffins inscribed with funerary texts, an honour once reserved for kings, marking a shift that soon became common among Egypt’s elite. His tomb included an inner and outer coffin, a striking burial mask, a boat model, and troop models, reflecting ancient Egypt’s beliefs in protection, power, and eternity.
