@atlholisticfamilylaw: Just had a realization about what might be the hardest part of a contested divorce or custody case—it’s not just the conflict. It’s the feeling that you’ve lost control over your own life. Judges, lawyers, court calendars… it can feel like everything is in someone else’s hands. That’s why out-of-court options like mediation can be so powerful—you get to keep a say in what happens next. #DivorceSupport #CustodyBattle #FamilyLaw #ContestedDivorce #MediationMatters #DivorceAdvice #StayEmpowered #OutOfCourtSolutions #DivorceTikTok #WomenOver40 #HolisticDivorce #MentalHealthMatters
I don’t think that there should be lawyers and family law because I was under the impression when we first separated that if my ex violated the court order, then the court would reprimand him and something would come of that. I did not realize that family law is the same as criminal law in the way that if you commit a crime, you hire an attorney and then that attorney either get your charges, reduced or dismissed and family law is exactly the same in that you violate the order you hire an attorney and then you argue or come to an agreement where basically you’re allowed to violate the order

Yes. So many variables and presenting just the most important testimony and evidence to help your case is a crap shoot. I live in a big city and there are so many judges. Each thinks differently. My ex wanted me to “settle” for way less than half. A judge did make it more fair. Not just. Not equitable. But better than settling.
