If you love softball, this needs to be on your bucket list. Last night I got to witness my first AUSL game at Dell Diamond in Austin, Texas—and y’all, it felt just like an MLB game. The Bandits vs. Volts matchup delivered: high-scoring action, electric energy, and talent all over the field. But it wasn’t just about the game. It was about what it represented. Some of my favorite athletes—rookies and vets—competing side-by-side. The food? Incredible. The environment? Unmatched. But what moved me most… was the next generation. The little girls. The teenagers. The college athletes. All watching. All dreaming. All seeing a future they didn’t even know existed. A future beyond college. A professional future in the sport they love. Softball is rising—and with MLB backing AUSL, the path for women in sports just got clearer and stronger. The pro stage is here, and it’s real. If I could go back to 2008, to that little girl who dreamed of the Women’s College World Series, I’d tell her—there’s more now. You can go further. You can stand on that field one day. I may not have played in the WCWS, but I’ve stood in the stands as a coach. And now I’ve experienced the AUSL as a fan. And both moments reminded me why I do what I do: To help my girls chase that future. To remind them it’s possible. To show them the dream is bigger than it’s ever been. Dream big.
