The first one implies that Jimmy bought the TV with Michael's money, since Michael asks if he payed for that. If he was the one who went out of his way and bought it or if he willingly gave Jimmy the money for that, he wouldn't ask that question. So in the end it's implied that Michael won the race but Jimmy bought the TV with Michael's money anyway

I think with the first one its because OBVIOUSLY jimmy wont buy himself a new tv, he dont have a job
