Whilst this is a funny joke about getting a IBD diagnosis, this is a friendly reminder that IBD should not be compared with IBS, as this actually does a lot more damage than good, I know this is not the original posters intention, but when the two are mentioned together people always seem to conflate the two and this is actually very harmful as IBD is a debilitating disability whereas IBS is awful but does not cause permanent damage. Please do not compare or theorise that your IBS is actually IBD without seeing a doctor first or having symptoms in line with IBD.

I have Crohn’s. Certain things will flag in your blood work. You need a colonoscopy and biopsies. It’s the only way to get a definitive answer. Fresh blood is not very concerning unless it’s significant. That could just be haemorrhoids or a tear. It’s dark (black) stools that are much more concerning. If your stools are black you’d almost certainly be anemic or have some signs of blood loss in your blood work. You’d also systemically be quite unwell if it was cancer. Fatigue, night sweats, persistent low grade fever and weight loss. Get a colonoscopy lovely.

Me after reading my bloodwork results and I had a CRP of 134😀I seriously thought I had cancer and my GP referred me to the ER. 4 months later and I just had a bowel resection done because it ended up being Crohns🙏🏼

Docs investigated most of these and didn’t find anything, turned out it was endometriosis😫 if you have bad periods it’s definitely worth looking into!
