If you swear during a call they have no reason to help you. They have to figure you will act that way in person.

A hospital doctor will give care to literal k1ll3rs in handcuffs (as they should bc that’s their job) but denies care to you… for what? For being a human being who also happens to be trans that needs care

I don’t think you’re in CT anymore? So this may not help. But if you are — or are up for traveling — there is a GYN office in West Hartford that works with trans people. At least, I’ve seen trans men there when I’ve been. I’m nonbinary.

mercy hospital system (a catholic hospital) in Springfield mo denied my referral for endocrinology on the basis of me having "ftm transgender" in my chart. I was told "we don't see ~those~ patients." I have it recorded bc it was so fucking surreal I thought people wouldn't believe me

Don’t doctors have to take a Hippocratic oath to take care of everyone, regardless of personal beliefs???

I could hear the techs all bickering about who would do my pelvic exam. Left me there for SIX HOURS in the room, then I say “If you want to ask questions, ask so I can go home. I have female parts, if that helps.” Somehow I got medicine without ANYONE examining or taking swabs. I’m still sick but they won’t take me back or refer me out.

I don’t know if this will help, but some primary care doctors can and do some of the exams and care. Maybe that would be an easier path? I’m sorry you are being treated this way. I hope you find some decent people who will treat you with the respect you deserve.

How far are you from a major Blue State city? I know in Chicago we have at least two major medical clinics that specialize in care for the LGBTQ+ community that could point you in the right direction if they can’t do the care themselves.

i know it ain't easy in the US now (not saying it has ever been) but many places in Europe is open for refugees, not just from wartorn countries, but from political persecution also. And Denmark has free healthcare

Went to a gyno at a local hospital in Brisbane for the first time on Monday. I was referred by my GP for a colopsocy. I rang in the morning as my appointment was in the afternoon and asked for it to be noted I will be present masculine/man as I’m trans masc. They said no worries. I arrived for my appointment and all isiss was “I have an appointment” and their response was (with a positive genuine smile) oh yeah we know who you are. They were so great. The gyno herself was also respectful too. Sorry to hear you’ve had such a bad time.

I hate any religiously organized hospital or religion in medicine at all. If you’re having a life crisis surgery or something going on I get having your religious council coming to pray with you or whatever you want. But having a “catholic” hospital is completely crazy. Once you go into the medical all personal feelings about someone has to go out the window. I was a CNA and a hospice care provider. I’ve dealt with people who are racist sexist homophobic and everything else in between. But you have to put personal feelings aside to provide care. You can be mad about it when you get home.
