an instant ick for me is when a guy puts his height and writes "cause apparently that matters" (or something similar) like it doesnt matter what the height is the moment I see that I swipe left

I’m really short (5’2”) and I’d just prefer it automatically cut me out. If that’s an important factor, then I’m not gonna satisfy that preference and I’d rather just focus on people that won’t matter for me

I’m 6ft and get quite a few daily matches/likes, I’ve actually been curious what would happen if I set my height to like 5’4” as an experiment and changed nothing else on the profile.

To me, I don’t understand what the guys who are worried about this are worried about. If a woman cares enough to pay for an app to screen for height, she’s going to read your height and screen you out herself. What’s changed?

I'm like 6'0"-6'1" and still have issues getting matches. prolly is cause I have ADHD and don't like talking about my accomplishments cause they feel like things I just needed to get done rather then something worthy of boasting abou

I paid for tinder plus years ago, because I didn't really want to mindlessly swipe. I just wanted to choose out of the guys who already swiped on me to match with.

Also some women might prefer taller/shorter men not for societal reasons but maybe they only had trauma with men of a certain height range and just don’t want that kind of reminder/similarities again and that’s also 10000% valid!

This also makes no sense to me because a lot of these insecure shorter men tend to look for women shorter than them. I feel like they start to get aggressive or dismissive because they assume you will first if you’re taller than them.

Can we please stop saying I’ve never seen it so it doesn’t happen. I’ve never seen a shark attack or plane crash & None of my friends have ever been in a car crash Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen

height and looks are important irl as well, it's not like people stop having eyes off the app

most guys would do themselves a favor to put any effort at all whatsoever into writing their profile so their height and tags aren't the only information on there. women are generally happy enough to NOT date, so giving someone a reason to be interested at all is necessary!

if you go walk around a mall or a theme park or something, it's not a bunch of tall men with partners and short men by themselves, it's a mixture, mostly couples who are close to each others' height. if you want to make it all about the math, you gotta stop solving for the answer you want.

I rarely look at height - I’m 5 2 like you so they are all usually all taller than me - actually almost didn’t pick someone because he was too tall 😂

I've filtered height within a range, I'm almost 6ft so I would filter like 5'7+ just because I've had bad experiences where some guys are uncomfortable with my height. But their profile writing was the #1 reason I'd swipe or not.

Tinder doesn't even allow filtering by height, unless they've added that in the last few years

“6’ no I’m not lying” well instantly swiping away, and sure the height might have been the outside factor that made someone swipe away. Buttttttt when 6’ was the header to their bio she decided that was too much of a personality trait and not just a detail about him.

This is a great summary of the dating app scene. I met my (now) husband on a dating app 19 years ago. Today is the 19 year anniversary of our first date 😊

The only women I know who care about height on dating apps are women who are very tall and have had a lifetime of experiences being turned down by shorter men who are insecure about that height difference. My best friend is one of these people. She doesn’t care at all about height but just avoids men shorter than her to save herself the trouble.

I get what you're saying, but if you have a short guy friend you trust, ask him his experience. I've known guys that really suffer and its unfortunate..

gonna say it: im 5'7. I met my husband on OKCupid. He listed himself as 5'8. I was mildly surprised to find... he was mistaken, he's 5'9. my point is, your height is not always the issue 👌👌👌

It’s the same as like age filters on those apps. You have to put a range so in real life a year or 2 in either direction won’t matter but on the app there’s a cut off

The thing I never get with height is when people make a big thing about specifics. You like tall men or short women? Cool preference dude. You need your partner to be above 6ft or below 5 9... I bet without the app telling you in person you'd never know.
Not losing any sleep over it. I just always found it a bizarrely specific hill to die on.
