Adding on to this, knowing trans people personally also helps it sink in just how important and life changing gender affirming care is. It’s hard to deny that offering these services is a net positive when you’ve seen how much it’s benefitted the people around you.

I have a conservative friend. i didn't realize he was conservative for months because he supports trans rights and gay rights. He's not racist. we just disagree on economic policy and what makes a stronger better economy. I can accept difference of opinion on taxes. I can't accept people thinking my marriage is an abomination.

My partner came out as trans last year and has been on HRT since last December. They're still the best partner I could ask for but now they're actually happy with their appearance.
