As a non-Mormon, I had never heard of Trek until last month. But as an Idahoan, I did have to put on a bonnet and camp by the Oregon Trail 🤣

Yes this is true. I did trek in Oregon in the 90s. We had to catch, kill, pluck, cook, and then eat the chicken. I was a vegetarian at the time and they still forced me to help pluck the chicken and then told me there would be no other food for me if I didn’t eat the chicken.

Im exmo now but I actually liked trek but we were up in the cascade mountains in Washington state. I love camping and our group was nice. No pretend baby in our group.

My mother is marching tomorrow and needed a pioneer dress. I drove her to White Elegance, a store that sells temple dresses but also carries pioneer cosplay. The clerk said they were discontinuing the pioneer dresses because there are a lot fewer stakes doing Trek these days.

We did the dressed as pioneers and had assigned historic figures and re-enacted when the got injured or killed and if we we hurt or dead we couldn’t help pull the hand cart, if injured we were added to the load on the cart. It was crazy but it was a good way to appreciate what those people went through.

One of my classmates in Junior High talked about Trek. Thankfully I left the church before I wouldn’t had to go. He mentioned that the woman had to churn butter.

We got turkeys on the last day, everyone stood in a circle, and a few boys had to catch and cut their throats. Lots of people cheered when they caught the turkey, not sure if it was hunger, dehydration, or delusion from 4 days of hard hiking.

I managed to avoid trek. The idea never sounded fun. And the recreating religious trauma when talking about the pioneers always felt weird to me.

I was forced to do it 3 times… I was the ONLY male in my family all 3 times. I pulled that fucking wagon almost alone 3 times. The wind blew our tents over all night one of the times and they forced us to stay. I hate trek.

Boys killed the chickens and girls had to make graves for their dead babies. Church trama is real. We are exmos and the crap I re-tell my kids they think I made it all up but I’m not, Joseph was a lair and I just had to unfortunately re-live his lies.

Once I was driving to Seattle and from a distance I saw a group of people walking alongside the mountainous freeway. As we got closer it turns out it was my very own peculiar people. Mormons. What a tribe to be from! I about died. 🤣
