bought my kid the LL Bean backpack and lunchbox going into his junior year with it. that $15/$20 I would have spent on a new bag every year I used that money to buy extra supplies for the teachers

My little guy starts preschool this fall and got him the LL Bean backpack with dinosaurs on it. He loves it and I’m hoping it will last a few school years.

This healed my inner child. I had the same ll bean backpack from kindergarten to 8th grade. I was always SO jealous of kids that got a new backpack each year to the point I tried cutting holes in my ll bean (with no such luck) so my mom would buy me a new bag😭

I love this! When I was pregnant I SWORE he wouldn't wear anything "tacky" with characters. Guess who has light up lightning McQueen tennis shoes? The JOY on his face carrying them out of the store is one of my favorite memories now.

I’m letting my daughter pick the obnoxious/cheap character backpacks until she’s around 10 depending on maturity. Around that time she’s getting a nice jansport solid color one that’ll last her for years and we’re decorating with pins so it’s still personalized but a little more big girl and durable.

I always picked one with a good amount of pockets till one day i completely switched to a traditional jansport but each year it had to be a different color 😂not basic either. Pink purple neon green teal you name it 😂
