@huntsworkshop: Twisted Pair is the secret to reducing noise in high interference environments like automotive, car audio, home theater, and networking. #automotive #mechanic #caraudio #network #wiring
Sorry, Gabe, still using my drill. You just gotta give it more.ugga dugga than you did🥰

I’ve also heard of running power wire and speaker wires on opposite sides of the car to help prevent interference too. If you’re running RCA cables to an amp do you twist them? Or just the speaker wires

Just slightly over twist with the drill, pull taught and then reverse a bit.

There needs to be a certain number of twists per foot and usually it’s found in schematics. It’s not just twisting together.

Also you can explain faraday ie faraday cage.🤣😂 It's like explaining ohm's law without Kirchoff's law. 🙃 Sorry Gabe, not trying to turn your post into a science page or SigINT.🥴😎🚬

Twisted pairs are required, now twist per inch, what twist per inch is required for what? Because data ( regardless of ac like audio or ac/dc for network ) is different than power and ground to cancel out

The real proper way to do it is twist the wires, then twist bare wire around it (no insulation), then wrap it all in foil. I like to wrap all that in electrical tape to keep it all together and cover it all in wire loom to protect it

💯 Correct bud. They also state they should be twisted so many turns per inch.

You can just buy spools of twisted pair.

Reduces noise when current is flowing, each wire cancels the other…CAN systems

i need around 100m of audio twisted wires 😭 did it with the drill and yes it does loosen. heating and cooling mihht make them remain twisted

Why are 2 wire communication wires tried together?
Textbook Volkswagen answer: "to deal with electrical interference".
The modules reading CAN signals are looking for a difference in voltage between the wires to interpret a dominant bit.

Back in the 90s, Pioneer had an entire system that used fiber optic interconnects.

if you are talking cat cable used in networking you have one grounded wire with a communication wire. and to twist your wires use a mixer. one wire to each beater both tied to same point spin it up and then remove from beaters and let them go they will spin together and lay flat

I built a jig that uses a motor similar to a drill that will twist the wires together and it maintains a consistent twist and The Wire holds the twist. The trick us the jig is vertical, the drill at the top, the bottom is on a free sliding weight, and the cutoff has a limit switch. the twists are extremely repeatable.

and on many modern cars that twisted pair may be shielded as well some cars have multiple sets of twisted pairs as well

Use this often to not get the “coil” effect that your talking about when you take the drill off.
