I bought a model anduril from lord of the rings when I was a teen and when I was at my undoubtedly absolute lowest moment I laid on my floor and saw it hanging on my wall and though, "If this could be broken and reforged better then so will I." it's been 2 years and I'm doing better than ever! when i escaped my abuser, i had absolutely nothing, nothing but the clothes on my back and a pair of slides, i didnt even have a charged phone, i ran out of the house and i didnt stop running until i got the hospital, 2 hours away. it saved my life.

I think it is so powerful that we humans will find the will to persevere through our most beloved media. My friend group plays DND and whenever I make a comment about taking my life (I unfortunately make those jokes often when I’m struggling), they always say “no you can’t, we have too many campaigns to finish.” They have no idea how much it means to me. I will always hold a place at that table, my characters are set in stone. I can’t leave, because I still have stories to tell. Humanity has its dark moments, but our ability to push through is what makes us so strong. To every nerd who has thought of giving up, but kept going because of that one quote, that one story: you are amazing. You are braver than you know and I am so, so proud of you. Go nerds!!

Theres a quote in a pokemon game that I literally used as my senior quote because it grounded me every time. "You've come this far, what choice do you have but to keep going?" And that quote kept me going through the subsequent years where I was in the worst period of my life. I'm happy now, I made it through. They were right when they said it gets better.

After my mom passed away a lot of things stopped being fun, my artistic soul was crushed, but I kept going. I remember watching a mini documental on YT called "Disney Channel's Theme: A history mistery" and I'm pretty sure that one saved me and my art, it's amazing how media can keep us going

for a long time the only thing that kept me here was imagining how my funeral would crush my grandma, because my cousin died when we were children. I promised I wouldn't go until she did. I'm 36 and she's still here and making my son jam. I'm so glad she is.
