It is as simple as a calorie deficit but achieving a calorie deficit can be very difficult and complex for many people! Dieting culture can be toxic But it does not have to be. Try to resist the urge to treat your lifestyle changes as a sprint and rather treat it as a marathon. Often times we go all in and go way too far. Restricting all of our favorite foods, completely cutting out carbs, doing absurd amount of exercise…….. not many can sustain this and often leads to burn out, bad relationships with food, binge eating, and a multitude of other issues. Try to make small changes each week that’ll help you to lead an overall healthier lifestyle. Do not look for results in one week rather look Toward what you hope to achieve in one year. Tips to slowly change your lifestyle 1. Try to aim to eat Whole Foods and start cutting out the processed foods you currently eat. A good goal would be to aim to eat 80% of your food sources from Whole Foods. make sure that you are in a calorie deficit 2. Start exercising if you times a week and work your way up to exercise in 4 to 5 times a week. Even start off with just 10 minute a day and increase slowly. You do not have to pick any specific exercise just one that you enjoy to do 3. Start writing affirmations. Start your morning off with three things that you like about yourself. For some this may be very hard to start I know it was for me. But overtime I have come to love myself and I affirm it daily. 4. Try to increase your water intake. You do not have to go crazy! 5. Stop thinking of food as good or bad and stop thinking of yourself as successful or a failure for eating certain foods! 6.Sleep 7-9 hours a night 7.Make sure to eat adequate protein 8. Talk with your physician and a dietitian for additional help. 9. If you meet the requirements, discuss with your physician about medications to help aid in weight loss. In the end! There is more to life and happiness than your weight! Yes it is important for physical health but there is also a lot more to health than the physical perspective! Your worth is not determined by the number on the scale or the size of your jeans!
