Katherine Brandon (nee Willoughby) was the Duchess of Suffolk and wife of Charles Brandon, former brother in law and friend to Henry VIII. Ignore the sound used here as Katherine was only 14 when she married an almost 50 year old Brandon. After Brandon’s death in 1545, she was still only 26 and the king was in his mid-50s but he set his eyes on her. He was already married to his sixth wife Katherine Parr at this time. Parr was a staunch Protestant, so much so she was almost arrested. Unlike her predecessors Anne Boleyn and Katheryn Howard though, she managed to get to the King before the warrant was delivered and as such got back into his good graces. As a result, Katherine Brandon did not have to marry Henry VIII.
