blaming minorities and the LGBTQ will NOT fix your population decline problem. if your country's women are choosing not to raise kids then there's a more severe issue. if Japanese work ethic wasn't so crazy, if corporate wasnt so sexist, and society wasn't so strict, young adults wouldn't feel so lonely and women wouldnt be pressured to choose between a "modern" or "traditional family" life.

These comments are so disheartening. Throughout history people have targeted gender non conforming people and the LGBT as convenient scapegoats and this has done nothing to improve societal challenges. Demanding conformity to gender norms won’t eradicate the existence of queer people, and unless Japan addresses what young people acknowledge as barriers to starting a family (cost of living vs wages, lack of work-life balance, etc) they’re not going to see a rise in married couples with children
