In Vermont, married or not, if you live together and have a child/children then the State considers you a family and ALL income has to be reported.

I got away with it for 5 years ain't no shame in my game just saying I live with my boyfriend and claimed him as a roommate and I only collected child support on my children never worked but when you're only making 300 a week you got to do what you got to do cuz he paid child support too

I couldnt get food stamps while just living with my spouse b4 marriage because his income technically counted and we were still a couple just not married

I don’t know about other states but my boyfriend and I live together with our son and when we applied for food stamps they took both of our incomes into consideration. Didn’t matter that we aren’t married, we live in the same household so they look at both.

In Ohio, we are supposed to report anyone that lives in the house. So like his income should be reported. It’s fraud if it’s not. But like I said that’s Ohio. And I had to do for my son SSI & Medicaid insurance.

Idk why your so concerned with other peoples lives so much… its cost the average tax payer about $36 a year if that for EBT 🙄 your telling me she isnt allowed to have some oreos with you $36 a year!!! Ugh

One thing that needs to start happening is investigations. In a case like this; she applied for food stamps, I'm sure she had to claim her daughter. They need the birth certificate, they can see the father listed on there. A case worker can check if they are living together and if they aren't, the first step is for the mother to get child support. If she is getting cs, that will be factored in. If they are living together, both able bodied adults need to be looking for and providing evidence of stable employment. Welfare was never to be made as lifestyle is was made to help when people were desperate. People have been taking advantage of it and it's gross.
