I myself am 13 years old. Maybe it’s just because I have two younger brothers, but this whole situation is bullshit. This never should have happened. I am so incredible relieved that your daughter is alive and safe now. I can’t believe that would happen and I completely agree that they should impliment a new policy. Also, why was that employee not fired? They put someone’s life in danger!! And the funnel cake vouchers is just the icing on the cake

Are people completely missing the point that there are people hired to make sure the restraints are done up properly? It’s literally their JOB to make sure everyone is safe and buckled in correctly. If someone, not even just a child is expressing to them that they do not feel safe then it’s the attendants literal job to check it.

Genuine question, I do not mean harm. I have never been to this theme park but I’m confused on if she could have pushed the restraint down herself? I’ve been on a ton of coasters but I don’t recall any of them ever not being able to be pushed down more by me if needed.

I don’t think I’ve ever been on an upside down ride without the shoulder harness

I also just want to point out that Tyre Sampson is dead because inattentive employees. Those employees should have never let him on the ride as he was very much over the limit therefore the restraints didnt properly fasten. Employees who don't care/don't pay attention cost lives.

People act like you are trying to sue or something you are just trying to bring awareness. I’m just glad that you guys are both safe.

Did anyone from the park reach out yet given the backlash? It’s even made international news.

I think all rides need another form of safety rather then just the lap belt there should always be another form of seatbelt or something

People forget that a lot of amusement park accidents could’ve been easily prevented with better safety measures. Something as simple as another round of safety checks or seatbelts for certain rides could save lives. These rides were made to work for certain measures, including a fully operational and correctly used lap belt. If the belt isn’t secured properly, then it would cause an accident

it goes upside down, I think it needs a second way to hold you in. I wouldnt get on it solely because its only a lap belt

Hey, I hope you’ll update us if you actually get a real response from the park management. I’m so disappointed that they basically did nothing.

I don't have kids but my pov of dangerous situations like this has drastically changed as I get older lol I'd like to live and I know I'm not invincible. Horrified at what I did as a young brain but glad I made it out 😅

I’m pretty sure leviathan and behemoth got extra seatbelts after someone flew off of the Texas Giant at Six Flags in 2013 I believe. Again, it was the workers that let the women into the ride when she could not be accommodated, and she said she wasn’t safe and they let her go anyways. but wonderland added seatbelts for the riders sense of security and extra safety measures. That’s why there is a “New Texas Giant” unfortunately bad things have to happen in order for rides to improve their safety. They should think before hand that things like this can happen.

I am shook with the reactions to your situation. Literally all that needed to happen was for the employee to listen to you when you are saying your child was not safe. Help us or let us off.

first off...you're not old. second...who gives a flying faaack if a coaster gets seat belts. Just an added layer of safety. thirdly...your eyebrows are on point. fourth?! I'm so glad you two are ok "ish". I know that if I was in your position...I would have lost my shit. Kudos to you for doing what you did to keep her safe.

I haven’t been Wonderland in years, but back in the day all rides had seatbelts plus lap bars is that not a thing anymore

Holy moly Batman, people are missing the point. It shouldn’t take a death to enact a simple policy change that takes an extra minute.

I truly think all rides should have seatbelts AND metal bars or full body straps. You need a backup in case something fails. A seatbelt will not inconvenience you anymore than the original safety harness would
