I'm very certain Panama started adapting Dancehall in Spanish when Jamaicans migrated to Panama to build the Canal, hell El General is of Jamaican descent, I don't know where you got the New York part from

I’m tired of Jamaicans not getting their credit amongst Hispanics. I had a girl tell me “it’s not the same Spanish reggae is different then Jamaican reggae they do Dembow” like huh ?? Do you even know what dembow means they are ignorant when it comes to this and we brought them so much culture you can’t hear a lot of their cars not blasting Jamaican music that they are doing in Spanish

Ummm it’s in the name… Reggae… Reggaeton. Oh & Hip Hop/Rap also stemmed from Jamaican “toasting”. I ain’t Jamaican but the world would be a different place without their influence on world culture.

For all the people saying that Hispanics stole reggae, reggaeton is basically Spanish dance hall. It's called culture and it's meant to be shared and fused.

Oiiii stop right thuuuurrrr. Afro swing was birthed from Afrobeats not Reggaeton. It was mainly spurred by 1st generation African immigrants & their children, specifically the Nigerian and Jamaican diaspora living within the UK. It is literally a mix of Dancehall, Afrobeats and R&B

Literally dembow, reggaeton are words from Jamaican patois. If people say they can’t see it…. It’s deliberate and they’re pretending.

Literally Latin American music is derived from African beats, brought over by Africans through slavery, most started due to hardships they faced, from Cubans Salsa to Dominican bachata to Brazilian samba and capoeira etc. I am African so wherever I go in Latin America I hear African rhythm and see African dances, but their media likes the image to be white, most of these music started with their media referring to it as ghetto until they had a white figure to represent the country, the anti Black is horrific but music, food, spirituality of Africa is rife.
