I watched some youtube videos and did some small research, but apparently more people wouldve survived the whole accident if help had gotten there quicker, however they didnt because they incorrectly assumed no one could've survived the initial crash!

There's a documentary about this. Japan Airlines Flight 123, which crashed on August 12, 1985, was caused by a faulty repair to the aft pressure bulkhead after a tailstrike incident seven years prior.

If I remember correctly, they used the engines to not only control altitude but to STEER THE ENTIRE PLANE. And they nearly landed but when getting to a safe speed to land they couldn’t overcompensate with the engines anymore and lost it
