I don't know what you can do about the actual business but you can speak to your States insurance commissioner for any insurance related issues that aren't being handled correctly by the business.

you legally are allowed to call and ask for an estimated cost prior to ever even scheduling. That is part of my job as well. They give you the CPT code and you call you insurance as well. My team had a shoppers line. It's called Transparency.

My husband was in his 40’s for his first hip replacement and had his second at age 50. He always knew he’d need them because he was born with Legg Perthes. We are in Illinois. First experience was a nightmare. Second was so much better.

YESSSSSSS!!!! Please do that. Contact a Chicago TV station that has an investigative reporter. Or another station in a large market that gets statewide coverage.

Reach out to your insurance company and ask them if they know where to report this. You may even be able to file a grievance with the insurance company too.

I had a similar situation with my child. Took her to an ortho that was in network, but the office was in a hospital. Found out after the fact that the doctor bills it as an outpatient hospital visit, instead of a regular visit, so I had to pay as if I took her to the ER. Apparently it was on me to find out how it would be billed in advance, even though it’s an in network doctor at an in network facility. All he was doing was reviewing an X-ray for a sprained finger. 😡

I didn't know we were talking hip replacement. I understand most people can't afford to see him, but there is a doc in Chicago that people walk out of the surgery center after knee replacements or hip replacements but it's all self pay. I know several (wealthy) okies that have traveled to see him because recovery is so much better and easier than the traditional procedures. he doesn't cut ligaments or through muscle. he works around everything. I believe his name is Dr Berger??
