I think part of the reason they were so tragic was the inevitability. Even if toji hadn’t done what he did, even if they had won, they would have ended badly much of the same way because their conflict was based of who they are. The reasons they were who they were and the reasons they loved each other so much were also the reasons they couldn’t last. Toji wasn’t the beginning of the end, them meeting was the beginning of the end

the caption reminded me of when I put geto and gojo into Astro cafe's love compatibility and under "-57 Geto Opposition Gojo Moon - Pluto" it had stated near the end: "If this relationship ends, it can be very difficult to get over this relationship, if it is possible to get over it, as one or both feel burned by the other." and I sat there incredibly jaw dropped. Like my heart just flat lined because it's literally what happened in the series.
