@drdrewtimmermans: In this video, I break down why we need to get biological tissue, platelets, growth factors, and cytokines directly into the knee joint when addressing chronic inflammation or degeneration. These components help modulate both the immune and inflammatory responses inside the joint, which is very different from what you get with just dextrose prolotherapy. Patients often ask if we can combine prolotherapy and PRP in the same treatment. The research is clear, mixing high concentrations of dextrose in the same syringe with PRP damages the platelets and makes the PRP less effective. That's why we don't mix them together. While some might suggest doing prolotherapy for ligaments and PRP for joint spaces, I don't typically separate them like that. PRP is stronger, and it works on ligaments too, so I focus on what's most effective overall.
