YESSS, ill never forget when my sister was missing and I was doing tv interviews. One of her so called 'friends' pulled me aside & said "omg you look so f****& up! you need to sober up." My only child was killed 5 years ago. I gave a victim impact statement. It’s deeply personal. You can choose to direct statements at the offender but ultimately it’s about the impact to those left behind to give a voice to the love you’ve lost to illustrate how your loss has upended your life. I chose to keep most of my statement about my daughter’s beautiful life and how I’ve been impacted. I directed a small portion to the man who killed my daughter. I commented on that lady’s post, she deleted the whole video, made a new one and doubled down. She’s ignorant and lacks empathy. She triggered me bad. That sweet man is grieving his daughter and I am proud of his courage and thought his words were beautiful and heartfelt.
