I buy all the supplies and every open house I ask the teachers if they need anything. Usually all they ask for is tissues and wipes, I send them a few days later!

okay let's not pretend like there isn't responsible parents out there that do check their kids backpack and talk to their kid about their school supplies... there's nothing wrong with asking parents to buy Kleenex Clorox wipe Lysol.... what you failed to mention is communal supplies gives the excuse to the irresponsible parents that did it provide anything....

When the communal supplies run out we buy more. The kids NEVER replenish their supplies.

the only problem i have is buying school supplies when im a grown adult and dont have kids but I still have the urge to buy them anyway even though I dont need them lol

So many students found so many pencils in their lockers at the end of the year. 😭😭 I used so many of my own pencils for these students .

as a previous teacher if you dont want to have the fight with your kid about the type of things. you can always get a gift card. because the teacher probably already bought 30 red folder ans 30 yellow ones..just incase .

If a parents walks into a plain classroom, they’ll complain about how the teacher doesn’t care or try. If they walk and it’s inviting for their kids, they praise. WHERE DO YOU THINK THAT CAME FROM? I promise you a teacher has invested more into a classroom than the extra pencils and crayons we’re asking for!

What I do is - if you don’t have a pencil or pen, check it out and check it back in. If you don’t, you lose your participation points for the day (50% of possible points for my classes/other 50% is their assignment).

I went to school this week and found a students Stanley. I know her older sister and she like my landlady found her walking yesterday and handed to her…. We 😂😂😂😂 for 10 minutes easy. She’s going to wrap it up with the post it from school as her birthday present 😂😂😂

I was a 1:1 for a 1st grader but helped with all of them. I was only there 10 weeks. A parent donated a new box of glue sticks while I was there. End of the year- not many left! Just buy the damn supplies because no teacher will them “can’t use anything because your parents didn’t buy for the class” ALL KIDS USE THEIR SUPPLIES LIKE THEY DONT PAY FOR IT lol they’re learning to be responsible and that’s ok but classrooms need class supplies so everyone can be included
