And then there’s Arabic. None of them understand each other but all claim to speak the same language 😂

but how does this apply to English, when there are multiple countries (UK, Canada, US, etc) that use it as a primary language? honest question...

Serbo-Croatian never existed, it was pushed by Serbia as a means to eliminate Croatian sovereignty and instill Serbian rule.

I have more knowledge on this theme then him, he should look into our launguages before we were in yugoslavia. How many years have croatian people in Habsburg empire fought for their national symbols, launguage and identity be equal. Croatian documents are way older and our launguages would be different if we werent forced to accept Karadzics ideas in 1850.

Never, but literally never, has there been a single language as such during Yugoslavia, there has been an attempt at unification, but it failed ingloriously before it even began. This kind of amateurism is not expected from someone writing a dissertation on this

Matija Matic :
Servo-Croatian was an artificial attempt at unification. But the two languages are distinct, yet very very similar in grammar, vocabulary and everything else. What's confusing is Bosnian trying to establish as an independent language, but without any actual literature, like basic grammar or even dictionaries to support it.

As a speaker of Serbo-Croatian, it's one language. If you travel from Vranje to Čakovec, it's going to change every so little from town to town, you won't really notice a difference, but a person from Vranje and a person from Čakovec might not understand each other perfectly because they weren't exposed to each other's dialect. Still, these are more similar with each other than Austrian and Lower Saxony German. Also, a person from Osijek speaks more similar to people from Belgrade than to people from Split or the islands. Anyways, learning several dialects as a kid opened me up to easily learning languages as an adult and having a really broad vocabulary.

Imagine if there was: Australian, Nez Zealanden, Canadian.. all instead of calling it English.
But, when Serbs mention that, they are accused of nationalism.
