@inglewoodtastic: This is a honest realization and one that a lot of people in EMS come to, even if they love the work itself. It’s not our passion or commitment that’s the issue it’s the system. EMS often demands everything from its workers long hours, low pay, mental and physical strain, and little respect or upward mobility. It asks you to pour yourself out for patients while giving you barely enough to live or recover. That wears on the soul. Remember brothers and sisters You’re not weak or disloyal for wanting better. You're wise for recognizing your value and wanting a healthier, more sustainable life for yourself and your family.
Go back to school. Or do training in one of the vocational fields.

I’m in the same boat. I wanted to bed a nurse so bad. Took a phlebo/ER job just to a blood clot in my leg and three bulging discs in my back. I’m going to school now for radiology. High paying job. Less stress. And still get to do emergency.
