I’m a white person who loves Star Wars and has used the word clanker back in the day on Star Wars battlefront two when playing as clothes because it’s meant to be in jest from the TV show, sing the whole Robo phobia stuff and people making themselves sound like racist rednecks rather than pretending to be troopers fighting battle droids hasn’t sat right with me and I’m seeing a lot of similarities between actual bigotry and using the joke, it hasn’t sat right with me after seeing the second video on this, the first one where a dude was using a battle droid voice was funny, and then people started saying like mixing and marrying and all that and I just got immediately turned off and it’s sad because the original stuff from Star Wars is just fun

This is only tangentially related but I’ve been feeling really weird about the way that dogtok talks about mixed breed dogs because it kind of feels like it replicates this mentality? It feels so stupid to get upset about it because dogs don’t care if you call them a mutt but I’m concerned about like the underlying ideology that it’s possible to be more superior or worthy on the basis of genetics. It feels like a symptom of a bigger problem.
