@dogdaysofsummersanctuary: I left food for this sweet pooch and headed home to drop off the dogs already in the car. When I got back, she was waiting for me. Some dogs are terrified and I need to use a trap to catch them. Some dogs are scared and I need to build trust over time before I can get them to come to me. Some are timid but with enough patience, snacks and coaxing I can get them to come with me. And some dogs are just GRATEFUL and ready to be helped. That was the case with this pup. It was like she was waiting to exhale, finally, to rest. I opened the car door and she jumped in immediately- planted a big kiss across my face. This is the first day of the rest of your life, I told her, and we headed to the sanctuary.
