I 100% agree on your theory. I think that's where society has gone. More people than ever have never been hungry or struggled, so that drive isn't there like it was during our generations. The contract of success is harder to see and be proud of for today's young adults.

This reminds me very similar to how my dad grew up. His mom dropped out of school in 4th grade to help her family work and then she raised all 4 of her kids on her own with very little money, sometimes none. One of his childhood friends spoke at his funeral and said they came from very humble beginnings and weren’t able to travel, but my dad loved to read and he traveled through the books in his mind and I thought that was one of the most beautiful statements I’d ever heard. Can’t wait for more lore this week! 💗

Sooo relatable!! I went to a predominantly white university and i naturally gravitated to first gen students who also grew up poor, not because I was trying to close off my circle but because I felt respected, safe, and most seen by those who also had to navigate financial trauma as children
