As a teacher as well, is this your take home salary or what is listed as your salary lane ? Because take home is an entirely different whiteboard lecture…once you factor family insurance, retirement 403b and dues

I have a genuine question, so if you're only working 50% of the year, why is 40-50k not enough? When people work full time jobs all year?

62k for 185 days is pretty darn good considering most people work 260

I think teachers should be paid more but they should work the whole year. During the summer, schools should be open and be optional for kids. Provide some learning, maybe help catching up. Very long recesses and lunch.

Years 1-6 he works half of the year… 50% of the days in a year. A normal full time employee works around 260 days a year. He cannot expect to make the same as them

TBVeteran :
But you're only working half a year.. double all those numbers to get the right amount... so $31k = $62k etc .. 60k+ in your first year is pretty good.

Duke of Donesies :
So excluding weekends 104 days + 185 days of work=289 days you are either paid to work or it is the weekend. That leaves 76 days in the year you are not teaching and it is not the weekend. 76 days times 8 hrs a day means that 608 hours of time off. I’ll even say for conferences and working from home I’ll give you 300 hours of additional work. So with that you have 308 hours of time off which 38.5 days or 5.5 weeks of not working. That’s assuming you actually work 300 hours outside of regular school days. Which I’m sure you don’t
