unpopular opinion, churches shouldn't be tax exempt at all. they're part of the overall society, they should contribute the same as anyone else.

people don't understand the organization is tax exempt and there is a certificate for it. I had to enter these when I worked at a catalog company.

I used to work at a grocery store as a cashier and people would look at me and ask to use my “employee discount”. Our store had a discount card called an MVP card and when they asked me I’d swipe my MVP card because we didn’t employee discounts 🤣. I was able to get all the perks of swiping my card though 🤣

so the schools in our district get tax exempt for items. we have this one teacher that always buys candy for the parades and I don't even question it for her cause I've seen her card for years but I've had sooo many parents say well my kids go to that school do I get exempt? I'm like well are you part of the PTO? Or buying for the school programs? well then no.... 😂

People would come to a tourist location and not want to pay tax because they didn’t live in that State. Too bad, so sad, pay the tax.

Tax Exempt is for purchases for the church itself anyways. Not personal purchases

First, I would tell them she's tax exempt because she's buying things for the church, not for herself. So unless she's doing the same thing... Secondly, at my work, we have the person fill out a little form with their tax exempt ID number on it. We then staple it to a copy of their receipt for our records.

There is a difference between sales tax exemption is for resale items and church tax exemption (not paying fed income tax)

Same. People from other states who don’t have sales tax would come in and have to show ID & fill out a form (for usually like $2) then the person behind them would get so mad when I couldn’t do it for them. HELLO!!

I have had people tell me that and after I say no and they just tell me to do it or else, I look them in the eye and tell them that if I go to jail, I’m going to get something out of breaking the law but I will not be going to jail for them. Shuts them up every time. Some people will say that they are going to call the police. I give the non emergency number and tell them to tell them I said hi.

I work at a farm store where people can be tax exempt if they are a “certified” farmer and so many people try to abuse it but there’s literally no way for me to do it but people never believe me it’s so annoying

Once I had my job’s tax exemption form in my hand to use for work purchases and the customer behind me in line had the nerve to ask me if they could also use my form. They were reading over my shoulder and trying to commit fraud.

😂 I have tax exempt forms for Girl Scout items. for 11 years. ask me how many times I remember to use it. (maaaaaaaybe twice a year. I'm so bad at remembering to use it. LoL)
