There was a storyline that I wish they had used. it was about the jedi in general were being too caught up getting involved politics and Diplomacy that they became less involved in the force. so this helped weakened the jedis allowing the sith to take over.

Palpatine was chosen by plagueis mainly for his ability to disguise his force sensitivity ofc his very high sensitivity and midi count as well but the ability to cover up him being a force user is very useful

Palp was so good at hiding his affiliation within the force that he "switched" the nature of his life force, normally every living being is born with the force in them. had simply erased his "energy" or presence, it'd feel off for Jedi masters who excells in sensing energy, Yoda as you said is a prime exemple. imagine sitting in front of a person watching him and not feeling his presence. Palps learn how to switch the nature and the intensity of the force within himself, making use of the darkside to cloud the jedi's judgments regarding certain of his action is just a bonus. could've still kept on going with his work without doing so, would've simply take him a bit longer to achieve his goal

"yada yada palps had some special ability" I reject this type of answer. Looking purely at the movies (like how u should when answering questions about the movies) ots clear the jedi were arrogant and blinded by their own confidence. the idea of a sith lord infiltrating the senate is insulting to them. had they not been blinded by their own dogma it wouldve been obvious

In terms of the force, it was also called force cloaking, utilised by force users to cloud their true presence and proper intentions, and yeah cuz of the Jedi orders ignorance.
