Have you read the housemaid series by Freida McFadden? It is 3 books but there is a short story to read in between book 2 & 3, if you want. Book 1: The Housemaid; Book 2: The Housemaids Secret; Book 3: The Housemaid is Watching; Short Story: The Housemaids Wedding. I am on Book 3 and am loving these books.

I am lucky I have a used book store closer than Barnes and Noble, and the owner can order new and used books for cheaper. I also like it cause I can find books out of print

Miss Ma’am! Please…look into the Outlander book series. I have been reading Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series since the early 1990’s!! If you’re on a romance/mystery/history, this series will NOT disappoint! I will admit the size of the books were slightly intimidating at first if you are used to reading shorter novels. Don’t knock it till you try it lol when I first started reading these books, I was literally reading two or three sentences at a stop sign just to get more of the books in my brain lol 30 some years later I introduced my husband to it and he also was totally addicted. Apparently there is also a TV show now, but it does not compare to the books. You literally cannot put them down. I cannot give you a better recommendation for something to occupy you! Good luck & if you decide to read them let me know. I’d love to hear your review!!

I read strictly on my kindle. I read too much to deal with physical books that cost way more than ebooks and have to be shipped. Plus I’d lose it eventually. Lol. I have a few authors that I can recommend that are instant buys for me. Susie Tate is just fantastic. She doesn’t write the typical romance. Her heroines aren’t perfect and neither are her heroes. I’m anxiously awaiting the days until her next release, which is in a few days. Gretchen Archer is mystery, hilarity, and a bit of romance but the romance isn’t the focus. You will love her Davis Way series. Same with Deborah Brown’s Florida Keys series. Catherine Coulter has an ongoing FBI thriller series that revolves around a couple, Lacey Sherlock and her now Husband Dillon Savich. She also has a short 6 book series called A Brit in the FBI that is written with JT Ellison. It’s got a more sci-fi edge because that ends up what the two main characters investigate. The mysteries are really good and you’ll end up deep diving into researching what really happened. Riveting. The next three can be considered cozy mysteries but paranormal. Humorous, romance, mystery. Molly Harper’s vampire series is just snort laughing funny. It’s called Half moon Holliw but they’re a spin off from her nice girls vampire series that are just great and really funny. Next is Katie MacAlister who has a dragon sept series that evolves and twists. She has another vampire series that is in the same universe but you don’t have to read one to understand the other. The dark ones can be considered standalones. Kristen Painter has a Nocturne Falls series that is enjoyable and each can be considered standalone. A short spin off is the Jayne Frost Investigates. Jack Frost is her father and Santa her uncle. Soooo good.
