Growing up with ✨Y2K diet culture✨, the dancer world, the rise of social media, and a lil sprinkle of peer pressure… From binge eating… to starvation… to tea detoxes. I’ve lived through every phase of body hate dressed up as “discipline” 😮‍💨 I genuinely DIDN’T SEE or LIKE - what was in the mirror. It was very confusing and draining to deal with daily.  So if I had to start over with healing my body dysmorphia and my relationship with food? Here’s exactly what I’d do: 1️⃣ I would NOT get a fitness coach (straight away) 🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️ Yeah, controversial… but it’s like putting a glittery bandaid on a deep wound. If your brain already thinks your body is a flaw, adding weigh ins, macros, or check in pics will just amplify the pressure and shame. You’re not healing, you’re controlling and control is just another form of fear. 2️⃣ I’d start asking: am I hungry… or am I feeling something else? 🤔 Right before I eat or binge, I’d pause: Am I bored? Stressed? Lonely? Trying to numb something? I’d rebuild self trust by feeding my body when it needs food and soothing my feelings with something other than a raid on the pantry 🥹 3️⃣ I’d track how I feel, not just how I look 🪞 When do I feel calm in my body? When do I spiral? Which people make me compare? What outfits make me hide? What triggers me into checking every reflection I walk past? That’s the kind of self awareness that actually heals. GET TO KNOW YOU!!!! 4️⃣ I’d unfollow anyone who makes me feel like a before photo 📸 If your feed makes you feel like you need to shrink, loss weight, gain weight, detox, or glow up to be lovable… unfollow. It’s not motivation, it’s insecurity marketing AND it’s doing way more damage than you think 💌 5️⃣ I’d remember: my body was never the problem - my beliefs were Because if your brain learned your worth lives in how you look, it’ll always find a flaw. Anxiety does that. Shame does that. So do old comments from people who never deserved that power. I’d start there… rewriting the story I tell myself when I see my body!
