My husband and I have been living in our car with our cat since May 2024. We don't drink, smoke, or do drugs. He works full time and I work part time with a chronic illness. My mother died and without her support we lost our home and nearly all of our possessions. We are working and making just enough to live but not enough to get ahead. We are working class people who pay our bills and pay our taxes. Homelessness can happen to anyone.

They’re taxing the poor, making already vulnerable Americans pay tariffs, defunding Medicare, taking away employment rights, using the military on civilians and now criminalizing homelessness. They’re pushing lower/middle class to homelessness to weaponize institutionalized slavery by using the exception clause in the 13th amendment. They’re kicking out hardworking immigrants to support the narrative that we need to automate labor and replace the workers. They want us poor hungry and desperate.

Why is this a bad thing? What’s YOUR solution to this growing problem? Don’t complain about sh*t that you yourself don’t have another solution to. Individuals with severe mental illness who have FAMILIES that SUPPORT them still have episodes, but luckily they have families that support them and help them get the treatment they need. Who do the homeless suffering with severe mental illness have? Looking around our city it’s only getting worse, homelessness is going up, drug abuse is commonplace, crime is rising and I often find myself thinking “but what’s the solution?” And in all honesty this ideal has crossed my mind because it genuinely is the only reasonable solution BUT did I ever think for a second that anyone would ever impose it? No. I’d love to hear your suggestion tho 🙄

actually it's on par with America from its founding. Germany followed our example for the holocaust. Americans fought hard to end the instutionalization of the disabled and those deemed divergent by the wyt men in power. we are going back to our roots because we never rightfully punished or atone for our founding principles.

And my property taxes increased by 35% and insurance by 40%. So…. Homelessness feels too real. I don’t make 3x the rent to be able to get an apartment.

I’m not for this at all. Legit question though. As someone who has epilepsy that causes pretty bad anxiety because of it, would that fall under this category? Medication rarely works on the anxiety but I’m able to keep seizures relatively under control.
