im really curious to see thea and kevin interact bc they both went through the nest and probably had different experiences but at least they both know what it was like. also from what we’ve seen so far i think bc they never could really be together they arent actually codependent on each other which is good. i hope we see them unpack their time in the nest together like a couple deconstructing but staying together idk i just hope ultimately the books are focused on kevin which i think they will be

i agree completely! to me, Kevin and Thea's dynamics are very similar to Tashi and Art's (challengers). both are attracted to the sports star, not the man they are. both care way more about the sport, about being the best and about appearances than they do about their SO (i.e tashi saying she'd divorce art if he lost and thea refusing to talk to kevin at all if his comfort crowd (monsters) are around). It feels like they are both trying to achieve or prove something through their bfs. and sure, Kevin breaths exy, he lives for it and in that sense, i can kinda see why Thea would be a good fit, except he needs to be loved despite his greatness. Kevin needs someone who will cheer for him and encourage him, but not fuel his need to overachieve in order to feel like he is worth something. he needs someone who will see him as kevin first and as Kevin Day second. And I think that comes from fraternal/platonic love first, just like Jean. Jean is very similar to Kevin, even stricter in some ways, but he is healing, he is learning to be loved and perceived as Jean and not just Raven Jean Moreau, he's still exy obsessed, but he's learning he is more than just an amazing backliner and learning to have "non exy centered" relationships. I feel like Kevin desperately needs that, he deserves that and Thea can't give him that cause she is extremely exy/raven centered herself.

I feel like Kevin is different from Neil and Jean in that it was beneficial for them to find "a special someone" because it helped them heal somewhat, that is, it helped them understand that their exy wasn't everything and in the end Neil and Jean managed to appreciate things and people independently of the Exy. Somehow they managed to not tie their value to the exy... Kevin on the other hand, no. Yes, he ran away and is safe in the fox den, but he never really healed or improved in terms of the way he sees himself, the only change he made was finally prioritizing himself by changing his tattoo, but even that was tied to his exy. In my opinion, Kevin would first have to learn to love and value himself outside of exy before he could have a romance...

When talking about Kevin, I think we should also talk about his relationship with Wymack. We of course haven’t seen a lot of Kevin and Wymack, and what we do see is Wymack feeding into his alcoholism. I wonder how things would change after Wymack found out, though I don’t think there was much change. Kevin seemed even worse with his alcoholism and healing in TGR, after Riko’s death. That’s more skepticism because he’s only in it for two chapters.
