As a single dad who is my kids only parent, my kids having a cell phone on them or accessible to them is very important because it is my way of keeping track and being able for us to reach each other in an emergency. For as great of a state we claim to be it is sad our public education in Texas is sub par. That is why private schools are the way to go if you can afford it.

They are giving them bags that they have to put phone, watch’s and AirPods in locked before they enter school and when school is over they will have stations set up to get them unlocked when leaving school! If my kids ever had issue at school they would let me know immediately now im scared as to what might happen now!

The other issue is in today’s world the phone will always be there so you’re not teaching them how to be responsible and get their work done instead of having that distraction. What is going to happen when they go to college or work and that distraction is there and no one to tell them no.

I agree they shouldn’t have phones out in class and that’s what they’re saying. In an emergency yes use them. But to just use them because they want to chat with friends and family because they want to no that’s not cool. What did kids and parents do before cell phones?

I agree. That is up to the school, principal and teachers. The government shouldn’t be infringing on our kids or parents rights. I always appreciated my daughters being able to text me if they needed something or felt sick.
