Byung-Chul Han called this a palliative zone in love where a relationship is reduced to a 'mechanical and spatial side-by-side.' He also quotes Ficino: 'When you love me... and as I love you.. I recover myself, lost in the first place by my own neglect of myself, in you, who preserve me.' and then in the Agony of Eros, Byungchul says: 'Today, love is being positivized into a formula for enjoyment. Above all, love is supposed to generate pleasant feelings. It no longer represents plot, narration, or drama - only inconsequential emotion and arousal. It is free from the negativity of injury, assault, or crashing. To fall (in love) would already be too negative. Yet it is precisely such negativity that constitutes love.’ Everyone fears the risk of heartbreak but it is that very risk that makes love such a beautiful fragility. It is worth it and it is worth the pain each & every time. You are not afraid of new love but the responsibility & old pain that comes with it but hope is the residue of the love we haven’t yet found. How lucky are we to be able to love & be loved?
