I totally get this feeling! I was a homeschool mom when we moved up here in 2021. I finished out that school year and bit the bullet. We were financially struggling and I need to find a job. I put my son into our neighborhood school and got a job at that school lol. I see my kids everyday and get to know what happens in their school while still making money and helping other kids🥰 both of my kids are now in that school and it has been amazing watching them grow and learn! Have faith mama, they’re going to do great things!!

I will say I think the way kids interact in school here is a little different than in the lower 48. I went to a lottery school and loved it and had friends at several different schools around town all in different “groups”. My husband had a very different experience where he went to a big highschool in Texas and it was all about the social statuses. I know there are always going to be cliques everywhere but I feel like in Anchorage there are so many different types of people anyway that it’s not as big of a problem. My oldest did public school from elementary through highschool with part of that being out here in the valley and it was good. My middle child did elementary out here and does not want to go to the middle school mostly because she just doesn’t get why kids can’t just do their work and follow the rules she doesn’t like getting scolded for the actions of others in class lol. We decided to try out homeschool this year with some in person options. Like you said when your kids have good values, you’re communicating with them and checking in on them it sets them up to succeed. At the end of the day if it’s not working for your family you have the ability to change that and it doesn’t hurt anything to try. They will do great!

We love Ursa Minor I’m sure they will love it. My son was only at the middle school for 3 months and eagle river high is ok better then all the other high schools

My almost 13 year old still plays with her stuffed animals and legos, and my almost 10 year old still loves her baby dolls. Cheering for you, mama! You’re raising them to still enjoy their childhood! 👏🏽 as a homeschool mom, here in Alaska - i am VERY interested in how this works out for your family. 💜 love and light!
