my grandma's name is on the wall of Ellis Island, as are the thousands of European immigrants from the late 1800's, early 1900's. they came to build a life, not with their hands out, but with grit and determination to make it in a new and growing young country. it's was after the 2nd world war that they instituted regulation and rules to limit and control the flow of immigration.
