@whatsmadisonreadingnow: Replying to @authorkchristine I asked people to recommend me books they DIDN’T like, and now I’m going to read them! I’m gonna run through the books joining Normal People on my August shortlist and celebrate 1k (insane!!!)! #BookTok #bookish

I submit the Gunslinger by Stephen King. if there's one thing King and I agree with it's not a good book if there's one thing we disagree agree its the rest of the dark tower series gets better QUOTE: “When I looked back at the first volume, which you now hold in your hands, three obvious truths presented themselves. The first was that The Gunslinger had been written by a very young man, and had all the problems of a very young man's book. The second was that it contained a great many errors and false starts, particularly in light of the volumes that followed. The third was that The Gunslinger did not even sound like the later books - it was, frankly, rather difficult to read. All too often I heard myself apologizing for it, and telling people that if they persevered, they would find the story really found its voice in The Drawing of the Three.”  ― Stephen King, The Gunslinger

I remember really liking crime and punishment when we read it in high school but I’ve never really been able to nail down why. I really should re read but it is so big.

My toxic ex-best friend LOVES Normal People and I didnt enjoy it when I read it at the time, but now that we arent friends anymore I will never read Sally Rooney again. Not for me. Especially now that I have such a bad association with her books :/ But to anyone who does enjoy her books, Im glad! Every book should be loved by someone♥️

My husband and I read Crime and Punishment to each other during our honeymoon in Costa Rica, so, not only do I love it, it also has core memories attached to it. Hope you love it, too!

The Secret History by Donna Tartt. As an avid lifelong reader this book felt like it was trying to be complex and symbolic while having none of that. The plot lines are shallow and redundant with half-baked characters at best.
