@bethradulski: Neuroism is the elitist belief that neurotypical ways of thinking and behaving are superior. Neurophobia is the fear that neurominorities—autistic, ADHD, etc.—are dangerous or harmful simply because we’re different. I introduced these terms in my PhD, drawing from histories of sexism, classism, racism, and other systems of oppression. Like patriarchy and coloniality, the neuroarchy works by painting difference as a threat. But neurodiversity is not the enemy—it’s the future. We break this down in my Neurodiversity 101 class. Almost wish people would have that around me. But instead I have denialism, where people reject my issues as me being lazy or forgetful and how I can’t “blame everything” on my adhd.

ah, check out Frank Ludwigs definition of "diaphoraphobia"
because people who have the biologically elevated response to autistic people likely have many intolerances to human diversity

What do neuroism and neurophobia look like for you? When do you experience them, why, and from whom? 👀👀👀
