@damoncassidy: If saying that "45hr/wk of skilled work with a bachelor's degree needs to come with enough wage to pay rent, groceries, and utilities" is being 'entitled,' then yes, I'm incredibly entitled when it comes to my work.#financialeducation #history #update #jobseekers #damoncassidy #news #genz #financialfreedom #LearnOnTikTok #fyp #work #experience #financialindependence #jobsearch

most places don't care if you do want to work a ton of hours, they'll kneecap your hours to keep from having to owe you benefits. and getting overtime is a joke. most hours I worked before an office job was 30 hours.

At university hospitals many postdoc and resident salaries are same as they were decades ago ($35k-$55k; $70-80k). In a discussion with a dept. chair I mentioned they’re literally expecting to fill slots paying below minimum wage for people nearly in their 30s for highly skilled, 60-80+ hour workweeks, but they have this mental block that “it’s a junior/training position so they don’t deserve to get paid much because the job is its own reward”

so I hire a new grad engineer for every one of my very senior staff members. it works out great, you get the knowledge transfer with the ingrained technology. the kids in their twenties are a little stiffer to the abrasive older guys. nobody else catches onto this, I'll keep hiring them

Gen z would love to start a family own homes get married, but we keep pay low "the rich will raise prices" if we increase it. Not seeing that without regulation the corporation keeps making record profits. Look at walmart half the employees are on welfare but the government subsidies walmarts low wages without taxing them causing a deficit. Why don't we just tax or require corporations to pay a living wage, and if you got any employee at poverty level your tax bracket increase. We also need to reevaluate what poverty level is, it's 15k for 1 and 30k for 4. Imagine 800 rent boom 9,600 gone and that's way below average then add food 150 a month that's below average of 1,800. That's now 11,400 you're at 3,600 left to survive a whole year missing clothing gas car phone electric water natural gas garbage pickup taxes emergency car maintenance LIFE.

Most of us want to work and build a life. A nice house and family… but it’s impossible to afford either of those. I make well over average salary a year and it’s still not enough.

ya that's because we allow lobbying and in the 1980s we stopped taxing the rich, and made stock by backs legal.

And oddly enough millennials are being laid off more than others since 2022 bc most millennials are lower level managers and therefore some of the first to go. We’re all taking lower paying jobs just to get by. This economy is helping nobody except the boomers.

along with what everyone else is saying about working and still not being able to afford anything, them not hiring us AT ALL is fcking us over. I had to apply to over 100 places just to hear back from 1. it's ridiculous.

I just graduated in May and was offered a full time job at the beginning of July. Between January and now I applied for over 150+ jobs both in and out of my field of study and only had two jobs interview me. I got so lucky I got hired by the second one. I just want to be able to support myself and feel okay

It’s sooooo important that we actually focus more on the diversities of a generation. Such as the early portion and later portion, like he mentioned in the video. This is so crucial to define baby boomers because I hate seeing them all with the same label that they are mean and strict when they’re not. It’s just the later half thinking this way. It’s crazy, because you can see this distinct difference between the early and later half.

The minimum wage of Utah it still, 7.25. The minimum wage for renting sits roughly 30k. I make 32k, only 2000 above the minimum. The minimum wage sits at 15k, somethings wrong.
